Daniel Salter and his employer, TGA Mobility based in Suffolk, have made a second donation to The J’s Hospice

Daniel Salter and his employer, TGA Mobility based in Suffolk, have made a second donation to The J’s Hospice in Essex despite his charity cycle ride coming to a dramatic end through a burst tyre.

Keen cyclist and runner, Daniel Salter, is an enthusiastic supporter of The J’s Hospice. The charity supports young adults with life-limiting conditions and their families across Essex, in the comfort of their own homes. He works as a Product Consultant for TGA Mobility based in Sudbury which provides quality and reliable mobility scooterswheelchairs and powerpacksacross the UK.

Daniel, aged 30 from Sudbury, previously completed The J’s Hospice 2016 Chelmsford Marathon so that his employer would donate a lightweight and ergonomic StrongBack wheelchair to the charity. When he delivered the wheelchair to The J’s office in Great Baddow, he met members of the charity’s healthcare team and a patient, Alice, who inspired him to support The J’s again on the recent ‘Pedal for The J’s’ 80km / 50 mile charity bike ride. Read more…

Christmas comes early to hospice patients with wheelchair donation from Suffolks TGA Mobility

Sudbury-based runner Daniel Salter and his local employer TGA Mobility, have donated a new StrongBack wheelchair to Colchester’s J’s Hospice for enhanced care of disabled locals this Christmas and beyond.

Js Hospice and Strongback Wheelchair

When Daniel Salter, 30 from Foxearth signed up for The J’s Hospice Chelmsford Marathon in October, he decided that he wanted to do something special for the charity. The J’s Hospice improves the lives of young adults with life-limiting conditions and their families across Essex.  Daniel is a Mobility Consultant for TGA, the UK-leading mobility scooter and product specialist, and so, instead of collecting sponsorship, he asked his employer to donate a new StrongBack wheelchair to the charity.

TGA’s lightweight and ergonomic StrongBack is a pioneering new folding wheelchair design with a contoured backrest for better lumbar support and greater comfort. It helps carers push their clients more easily and without the worry of back strain when lifting it into a car boot so Daniel felt it would be the ideal wheelchair to help the charity to care for its young adult patients. He explained: “Even though the StrongBack was only launched this year it has been hugely popular across the UK as it sets new standards in postural support and healthier sitting.”

TGA kindly agreed with one condition: Daniel had to complete the marathon within 4½ hours. As this was Daniel’s first ever marathon, this was going to be a challenge but, despite stopping during the race to help a young female entrant who was ill, he completed the marathon in an impressive 4 hours 12 minutes.

Daniel recently visited The J’s Hospice office in Great Baddow to present the wheelchair. He met the charity’s CEO Bev Barclay MBE along with some of the charity’s nurses and healthcare assistants plus a patient, Alice Leigh. He said: “I was so proud to hand over the StrongBack wheelchair to the team at The J’s Hospice as they are all fantastic and do an amazing job. They were really appreciative and I was lucky enough to meet Alice, one of the young adults in their care. She tried the StrongBack for the first time and gave us a big smile and agreed that it was really comfortable. I will continue to support The J’s and I’m looking forward to cycling for the charity on the Pedal for The J’s cycle ride next year.” Read more….

74-year-old, who lives with Parkinson’s, wins a new ergonomic StrongBack wheelchair.

Brian English, 74 from Turvey in Bedfordshire who lives with Parkinson’s, entered the TGA competition at this year’s Mobility Roadshow and has subsequently won a new ergonomic StrongBack wheelchair.
Brian visited The Mobility Roadshow at Silverstone during May primarily seeking the latest adaptive products and accessible vehicles to assist his 45-year-old daughter who has Motor Neurone Disease. The English family were able to try, see and compare a wide range of products including award-winning mobility scooters from TGA. The TGA scooter range is regarded as one of the finest and comprehensive in the UK and this mobility specialist also provides quality wheelchairs and wheelchair powerpacks. TGA offered event visitors the chance to enter a free prize draw to win a StrongBack wheelchair ” a pioneering new design with arched backrest that has just been launched in the UK. Brian decided to enter the competition and won.
Brian said: ‘I am delighted to have won my new TGA StrongBack wheelchair. It was a lovely surprise and when I am feeling a bit better it will really help us continue walking our dog Saffron. My wife Sheila and I had gone to the Roadshow to look at the latest wheelchair accessible cars and nothing more in particular. However, meeting TGA was a bonus as I got to see their quality scooters and enter the competition. Following receipt of my winning news, TGA were prompt in delivering my prize and I have already enjoyed sitting in it in the garden, it is very comfortable. It will really help with my recovery from a recent fall and I hope to be back out in the countryside with my family as soon as possible.’
The new lightweight StrongBack wheelchair from TGA folds for easy storage at home or in a car boot. It encompasses a new arched backrest so healthy posture is promoted through effective lumbar support. With improved posture, regular or permanent wheelchair users can benefit from greater comfort and less back pain.

The New Strongback Wheelchair from TGA Mobility

In this video Tim Ross, TGA National Sales Manager, demonstrates the award-winning Swiss-designed Strongback Wheelchair from TGA – launched at Naidex 2016.

This pioneering design suits the majority of users looking for an attendant-controlled wheelchair with advanced lumbar support. The new StrongBack incorporates an award-winning seating concept that promotes better posture through a curved backrest. This helps to vastly improve comfort for the occupant through extra support and the reduced potential to slouch and slide forward. It can be folded into a compact shape quickly and only weighs a mere 11.3kg so lifting is strain free.
